First Thing’s First… Your Budget!

When creating your wedding budget, things can add up quickly and get you a little stressed out. It’s ok, that’s normal. You want to create a budget that works best for you. However, one thing you should definitely keep in mind is the Entertainment section of your budget. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT element of a Wedding! Here’s why…

1. You can have the most beautiful decorations, the most succulent food, at the most elegant venue. But, if your entertainment element is Sub Par or Unprofessional, your guests will simply have an “OK” time, or not a good time at all. And… if your DJ (or Band) plain old “sucks”, your guests will probably leave early or complain. Nobody wants to remember a bad wedding.

2. You can have chicken nuggets on paper plates in a back yard… and if your DJ (Or Band) ROCKS, you had the BEST WEDDING OF THE YEAR!

If it’s in your budget to book a band for your wedding, you might want to consider adding a DJ as well. Not just any DJ, a Professional Wedding DJ. Most bands can definitely Jam Out and create a high energy vibe for you and your guests. However, many times the general flow of events throughout the evening, as well as the hosting aspect (keeping all of your guests informed and interested) falls to the way side. Bands have to take breaks throughout the evening, this is the perfect opportunity for a Professional DJ to keep your guests energized and having as much fun as possible.

BE AWARE: Some Wedding Bands will claim that they have a “DJ”. However this is, in most cases, simply not true. This idea of a “DJ” is simply a playlist put together to play during the bands breaks. This play list is played in some random order simply to play music.

SOLUTION: Hiring A Professional Wedding DJ that will be able to read the vibe of your guests and play music in a perfect order to keep them on the dance floor, as well as Beat-matching songs and playing the music that the band doesn’t have planned in their set list. As a Professional Wedding DJ company, it pains us to say that we can not recreate the feel of Live Music. There’s simply nothing like it. However, when it comes down to it, Most Bands can’t do what a DJ does either; such as: beatmatch songs together, emcee/host, switch songs abruptly, change play list on the fly, interact with Bride and Groom/Guests while music is playing, and more. Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t trying to discredit bands at all. The point of this is to provide the proper information for you in order to help you with your entertainment decision for one of the biggest days in your life.

Is a band in your budget? If so, DEFINITELY Book a Band. But also add a DJ to handle the other elements that are important for entertaining your wedding guests. Don’t just book a band (See Be Aware Above). Most bands will lower their price when working with a Professional Wedding DJ, because they will play less music and have way less responsibility for the evening. Same goes for a DJ, we definitely lower our rates when working with a band.

“La Hora Loca” (The Crazy Hour) Wedding Tip of 2013

We had such a great Wedding Season of 2013. It lasted till the final Saturday of the Year! December 28th. But, this was unlike any other wedding we did all year. This great couple lives in Miami and was planning their wedding in Cleveland Ohio at the Glidden House. The Glidden House is one of Cleveland, Ohio’s most elegant wedding venues. With our couple being from out of state and their wedding being “out of town” we were ready to take on this event with full planning, just as any other wedding. Our online planning area was perfect for the Beautiful Couple to not only create their play list, but to stay in complete contact with their DJ as well. It was through this communication that One of them decided to surprise the other with what is called

“La Hora Loca” or in English “The Crazy Hour”.

It is a designated hour in the evening when the party goes into Carnaval mode. It is a high-energy part of the evening where the host or bride & groom hand out masks and beads and the DJ plays an upbeat set of Spanish music. It’s a party within a party. La Hora Loca can be considered like an After Party within the Party.

The Most Popular Wedding Trend of 2013 is to Hashtag Your Wedding Reception! It is a lot simpler than it sounds. We will tell you the basics to set it up and why it is so much fun! In today’s Digital Age a lot of people love to post pictures to Instagram, Facebook, and Even Twitter. They even post simple status updates about the fun they are having.

By setting a hashtag you can find out what everyone thought about your special day and see those extra moments that your photographer may have missed. Even the best wedding photographer cannot capture every single fun moment all of your guests are having. This is why a Hashtag is simply an additional way to capture all of the moments you may miss.

 

1. Deciding on a Hashtag

First all you have to do is Decide on a Hashtag for your wedding. It is typically #(yourlastname)wedding(year). However, you can have as much fun with it as possible and personalize it to your wedding. If there is an inside joke like #groombetterspoilher… or #hehitthejackpot. You can make it whatever you want.

 

2. Inform Your Guests

The best ways to inform all of your guests what the Hashtag is that you decided on, is simply to:

1. Make signs for the Hashtag you decide on and place them at the tables and the entrance table.

2. Have your DJ announce it throughout the Evening. Your DJ can make announcements all night simply saying “Don’t forget, when you are taking those fun pictures and posting them online, make sure you Hashtag #(whatever the hashtag is for the evening)

It is as simple as that. We told you it was easy.

After your event all you will have to do is Pull up the Hashtag on each social network and get all of those fun pictures and updates that happened throughout the evening.
