He took the time to get a ring and planed how to ask for your hand in marriage. The mood was set, he popped the question, and then came the excitement! There will be a wedding! You get to bring all of your friends and family to one place for the biggest occasion of your life. You get to be treated like a queen and have more fun then you could possibly imagine. Your separate families now become one! You can’t believe how lucky you are that you’re about to marry the love of your life and planning the ultimate party to celebrate with the people you both love.

wedding nightmares, wedding tips, wedding planning, toledo wedding planningSounds easy, doesn’t it? Well, anyone who has planned a wedding and those of us professionals within the wedding industry know that it can easily become one of the most stressful things you will ever do. The nightmares begin a few months prior to the big day of everything imaginable going wrong. Then you can’t seem to get a hold of important vendors that are supposed to be providing their services for your big day. Maybe some of them even start creating unnecessary stress by changing their policies or procedures. What if they have simply gone out of business? Sounds dreadful doesn’t it? Well not as dreadful as things actually going wrong on the big day and leaving those lasting memories that will haunt you for longer than you would imagine.

Well, here are two great tips to help you be stress free and avoid unnecessary nightmares.

1. Invest Your Time in finding the perfect vendors for your big day!

You cannot get to know what a company is like simply by asking them their price. Do your research, read reviews, and schedule an official meeting. Don’t pigeonhole yourself in to only selecting a wedding professional that is under a certain price point. You may be missing out on the best day of your life by merely saving a little bit in one area of your budget. If the wedding professional is worth it and can alleviate the unnecessary stress but is a few dollars more than you planned, you may just want to adjust your budget. The only way to find out who is perfect for your big day is to invest your time and meet with as many professionals as you can. Meeting with your prospective vendors is the most important way to weed out those that may look good on paper but are unprofessional and may cause you nightmares.

What to look for: Do they have a good reputation among other vendors? What are their accomplishments? Do they avoid meeting you? Do they show up late to the meeting or reschedule last minute? How are they dressed for this meeting? Pay attention to demeanor and body language. Are they meeting you at an official meeting place? Have they prepared a presentation to cover all of the questions you may have or may have not even thought of? How long have they been in business? What do they say about other vendors in their respective fields? Most importantly do they care about what your needs are and want to fit the overall view you have for your big day?

hire a wedding planner2. Hire or Consult an official Wedding Planner

Official Wedding Planners know suggestions to make on who and what would be perfect for your big day. Make sure you do your research on the wedding planner as well in order to ensure they have a valued professional opinion. We aren’t saying to hire your cousin or best friend to be your “Wedding Planner”.  If you are able to do it, hire an official wedding planner for your big day. Not only will they know the right vendors to choose, they will also take care of handling all of the unnecessary stress that may arise during the planning process and even on the big day. A real wedding planner will also be able to save money within your budget because they already have established relationships with professional vendors.

A Wedding Professional’s Advice On Booking A Band Or A DJ

Want to have an AMAZING WEDDING?

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Are you on the fence of deciding to book either a Band or a DJ for your big day? Are you set on booking just a band? Here’s why you should consider doing BOTH!

First Thing’s First… Your Budget!

When creating your wedding budget, things can add up quickly and get you a little stressed out. It’s ok, that’s normal. You want to create a budget that works best for you. However, one thing you should definitely keep in mind is the Entertainment section of your budget. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT element of a Wedding! Here’s why…

1. You can have the most beautiful decorations, the most succulent food, at the most elegant venue. But, if your entertainment element is Sub Par or Unprofessional, your guests will simply have an “OK” time, or not a good time at all. And… if your DJ (or Band) plain old “sucks”, your guests will probably leave early or complain. Nobody wants to remember a bad wedding.

2. You can have chicken nuggets on paper plates in a back yard… and if your DJ (Or Band) ROCKS, you had the BEST WEDDING OF THE YEAR!

So please make sure you take your Entertainment Options seriously.

Thinking of only booking a Band?

______________________________________________________________________________________________

If it’s in your budget to book a band for your wedding, you might want to consider adding a DJ as well. Not just any DJ, a Professional Wedding DJ. Most bands can definitely Jam Out and create a high energy vibe for you and your guests. However, many times the general flow of events throughout the evening, as well as the hosting aspect (keeping all of your guests informed and interested) falls to the way side. Bands have to take breaks throughout the evening, this is the perfect opportunity for a Professional DJ to keep your guests energized and having as much fun as possible.

BE AWARE: Some Wedding Bands will claim that they have a “DJ”. However this is, in most cases, simply not true. This idea of a “DJ” is simply a playlist put together to play during the bands breaks. This play list is played in some random order simply to play music.

SOLUTION: Hiring A Professional Wedding DJ that will be able to read the vibe of your guests and play music in a perfect order to keep them on the dance floor, as well as Beat-matching songs and playing the music that the band doesn’t have planned in their set list. We work closely with Wedding Bands and make sure we aren’t playing the songs that they plan on playing.

***These situations don’t happen with all bands. However, it has been our experience that Professional Bands LOVE when one of our Professional MC’s/DJ’s handles the Timeline and the Energy (essentially what we do best), so they can do what they do best. ROCK OUT!

Can’t Decide Whether To Book A Band Or A DJ?

______________________________________________________________________________________________

As a Professional Wedding DJ company, it pains us to say that we can not recreate the feel of Live Music. There’s simply nothing like it. However, when it comes down to it, Most Bands can’t do what a DJ does either; such as: beatmatch songs together, emcee/host, switch songs abruptly, change play list on the fly, interact with Bride and Groom/Guests while music is playing, and more. Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t trying to discredit bands at all. The point of this is to provide the proper information for you in order to help you with your entertainment decision for one of the biggest days in your life.

Is a band in your budget? If so, DEFINITELY Book a Band. But also add a DJ to handle the other elements that are important for entertaining your wedding guests. Don’t just book a band (See Be Aware Above). Most bands will lower their price when working with a Professional Wedding DJ, because they will play less music and have way less responsibility for the evening. Same goes for a DJ, we definitely lower our rates when working with a band.

If a band is not in your budget, it’s simple… BOOK THAT DJ!
